Obama is not running for Vice President

The Clinton team (that would be HRC and Bill) seems to be offering Senator Obama the opportunity to give up his 1st place position in the race (more delegates, states, and votes) to become the Vice Presidential candidate.

I don’t know how someone who’s in second place, can offer the Vice Presidency to the person who’s in first place.

His better point is if he’s not ready to be President on day one to be President, why is he such a great candidate to be Vice President? You have to wonder.

A fine Clinton Whine

I’ve tried to dial down my Hillary bashing of late but some times her team is infuriating. Now they’re complaining about the Texas caucus/vote system that’s been on the books since she was the 20+ point front-runner. Now she’s not and she’s complaining.

I’m hoping that Obama wins Texas this Tuesday not only because I feel he’s the better candidate, but because I’d like this campaign to be over. If Obama wins either Texas or Ohio, it could mark the end for her.

The Presidential candidate and her boobs

hottieclinton.JPGbrettmorganna.jpgStories like this are awesome…or something.   Upper Deck decided to release a set of baseball cards modeled after the current presidential candidates.   Each candidate was aligned with an actual baseball moment (e.g. Mitt Romney as Carlton Fisk trying to wave a home run fair in the 1975 World Series).   Problem is there are no women players to model Hillary after.   So the Mensa candidates at Upper Deck decided to model her off of Morganna the kissing bandit.   (Morganna was an exotic dancer   known for running on the field at baseball games and planting a kiss and her I cup boobs on an unsuspecting ball player).

A woman can be the smartest woman on the planet and still it gets brought back to tits and ass.

Anyway, production of the card wasn’t stopped in time to stop a few from getting out.   If you find one, lucky you – they’re a huge collectors item going for almost $4,000 on eBay.

No Gore for you

Looks like Al Gore is taking the high road and won’t be endorsing a candidate during the primaries.

From CNN:

The sources say Gore talks with both Clinton and Obama, and is on good terms with both. But with Sen. John Kerry and Bill Clinton both aligned to a candidate, Gore has a role to serve as the neutral elder statesman in the party.

I guess this election has been divisive enough without Gore adding to it.   I did hear today that both Clinton and Obama will be meeting with John Edwards in the coming days.   If that endorsement comes – it will be interesting to see who for.

Another interesting article:

Ron Paul Won’t Endorse McCain

Ron Paul said he’d only support McCain for president if the Arizona senator “has a lot of change of heart” on his Iraq war stands.

Thank god there’s one Republican with some common sense on this issue.   McCain’s quote that he would be willing to keep the troops in Iraq for 100 years will be the sound-bite of the summer.

Super Tuesday 2008

What a crazy week.   I’ve been so busy at work.   I haven’t had a chance to look at my Google Reader account and should be working instead posting.   Anyway.

  • Watching MSNBC right now and Mike Huckabee has the line of the night “[Senator Romney] has taken both sides of the whining issue.”   The more I listen to the Republicans, the more I hate Romney.   He seems to bring back the Karl Rove way of politicking.
  • I’m here rooting for Obama and McCain – weird.   Mike Huckabee seems like a nice reasonable guy – but he scares me and I don’t think he should be President.   I’d have a beer with him, but wouldn’t vote for him.
  • I think I’m tired of the media reporting on all the racial statistics – I’m not sure it gets us anything.
  • Romney wins Utah (Mormon land) and Massachusetts (he was governor) and nothing else.   Maybe people see him for what he is – slime.
  • Obama winning Connecticut is as much a blow to Clinton as her winning Massachusetts is for Obama.
  • Really – Ron Paul is running?   And what’s with Joe Biden, Dennis Kucinich, and Bill Richardson still being on the ballot in New Jersey?
  • I just watched Chris Matthews flat out lie in an interview to Huckabee.   He said that Mississippi governor Haley Barbour said in an interview that Huckabee and Romney should drop out because they can’t catch McCain.   What he said was that when there is a clear winner, the others should drop out.   Matthews did this about 10 minutes after his interview with Barbour.   This is why we should hate the media.
  • It’s amazing how divided the Republicans are.
  • Wow – we didn’t watch American Idol to watch the election results.   Much more interesting.
  • I’m staying up to see the Alaska results come in – all 12 of them.
  • McCain just said “national primary”.   If he promises that I vote for him. (Come on, if Ann Coulter and Rush Limbaugh hate him, he can’t be that bad).
  • Oooh, will CNN leave McCain to broadcast Obama?   I can’t believe they’re going to speak at the same time – don’t the campaign people schedule this better?

It looks like we’re going to be moving on without a winner on the Democratic side.   I’m getting tired and have more work to do.

It’s Time for Progressives to Choose a Candidate – link off

So it’s not just me.   From Bob Cesca’s blog on the Huffington Post:

…but now that it’s a two person race, there’s no reason why the progressive blogosphere shouldn’t get down to endorsing a candidate. And while the endorsements could easily be for either Senator Obama or Senator Clinton, they ought to be, by-in-large, endorsements that are consistent with the blogosphere’s past activism against Democrats like Joe Lieberman, party machines like the DLC, and political stunts that reek of the current Bush Republican regime.

Obama vs. Clinton: Democratic Debate Thoughts

I have to admit we didn’t watch the full debate – we’re watching it in pieces right now.   Seems like it was really cordial affair and an actual discussion about the issues.   The Iraq question wasn’t a good one for Hillary.   Neither was the Bill Clinton question.   I do think she’s a better debater than Obama – he’s not as good a debater as he is a public speaker.   I think the healthcare issue provided a contrast, but otherwise there didn’t seem to be much to choose between the two.

Either way I’m excited for either of these two to take on the Republicans.   I think Obama has a better position on Iraq, but either has a better position on healthcare and taxes.   BTW – what the hell with all the famous people?   Fran Drescher?   Pierce Brosnan?   Brandy?   WTF?

What were your thoughts?
