Yesterday was my 40th birthday and unlike a lot of people, it doesn’t bother. It does however present an opportunity to look back on the last ten years.
Met the girl of my dreams and got married
Visited Ireland, leaving North America for the first time (once more than Sarah Palin)

If I had had a blog on August 27, 1990, I probably would have written something at that time. There wasn’t even a real internet back then, so you’ll have to forgive the lateness of this post.
These days I mostly listen to rock music. I’m more likely to listen to indie acts like [...]
I’m fairly well informed, but I really didn’t know Benazir Bhutto as well as I wished I had. The fact that she went back to Pakistan knowing that there were likely two choices - President or martyr, tells you what you need to know. I am more impressed with her now - and that’s [...]
Evel Knievel along with Muhammed Ali was one of the bigger characters of my childhood. Evel Knievel died today at 69. I remember having the Evel Knievel stunt cycle and annoying my parents to watch him do some crazy stunt on ABC’s Wild World of Sports. It’s a wonder I didn’t break my neck trying [...]

Actor Chris Penn died tonight at the very young age of 43. Every news story will describe Chris Penn in reference to a famous brother and that’s a shame. He was a fine actor and the loss will be felt by his family, friends, and fans.
Condolences to his mother Eileen and his brothers [...]
Ostensibly A Rubber Door is about anything that's on my mind. Mostly that seems to be about politics, music, sports, and arguing with others about all of the above. I took the name of this blog from a Michael Penn song called Me Around. Check out Michael - he's about the best singer/songwriter there is.
