Paris Hilton no longer to “act” dumb

In: Op-ed

From the interview Paris Hilton gave Barbara Walters:
“I used to act dumb. … That act is no longer cute,” ABC quoted Hilton as saying.
I knew this dumb thing was just an act. She has the pedigree of a future President.
Hilton went on to discuss her plans to apply to Harvard Medical School by [...]

People just don’t care

In: Op-ed

Last week Cyn over at Suburban Masquerade wrote about her neighbor who put up an unsightly net in between their houses without asking. It seems that more and more these days people just don’t seem to care about anyone but themselves. From talking in the theaters to cell phone usage without [...]

Consider the source

In: Op-ed, Sports

Last week St. Louis Cardinals pitcher Josh Hancock was killed in an accident where he was two times the legal limit, talking on the phone, and had marijuana in the car. Two days before the accident, Hancock was involved in another accident at 5:30 in the morning, overslept and missed the beginning of a [...]

Mad world

In: Op-ed, Violence in America

If you needed to be reminded how insanely violent this world has become, a wakeup call was provided this past week. The mass murder that took place at Virginia Tech is senseless but not surprising. In Philadelphia as of last Sunday 114 have been murdered, many of them children, many of them by [...]

Worst week ever: Don Imus edition

In: Don Imus, Op-ed, bigotry, racism

I’ve been laid off before and it doth sucketh. The only thing that has to suck harder is being fired not once, but twice, in a 24 hour period. Well Don Imus has been fired by both NBC and CBS in the past day. (ABC and Fox are debating whether or not [...]

A day in the life of Don Imus

In: Op-ed, bigotry

I’ve kind of avoided the subject of Don Imus, because this whole thing is getting old.  Michael Richards, Mel Gibson, Ann Coulter, Isaiah Washington, Tim Hardaway - it’s numbing how much intolerance there is.  My friend Grace asked me what comments I found more disturbing: Rush Limbaugh’s comments on Donovan Mcnabb or Don Imus’ comments [...]

Circuit City can rot in hell: time to boycott

In: Op-ed

Apparently Circuit City isn’t doing well. And to fix things they’ve decided to lay off 3,400 “high paid” clerks. High paid means anywhere from $8-15.  Once they’re laid off, they will be replaced with lower paid clerks. Brilliant.
I wonder how much in bonuses Circuit City executives are paid? But [...]

Showdown in the Capitol

In: Op-ed, george bush

Yesterday I was stuck in Cincinnati between flights. While waiting I was afforded the opportunity to watch George Bush’s press conference on the current federal prosecutor scandal that currently has the attention of the Senate. It was quite a showing. I still get a kick out of him attempting to grasp English, [...]

About this blog

Ostensibly A Rubber Door is about anything that's on my mind. Mostly that seems to be about politics, music, sports, and arguing with others about all of the above. I took the name of this blog from a Michael Penn song called Me Around. Check out Michael - he's about the best singer/songwriter there is.
