Can’t keep a good iMac down

In: About Spencer, Macintosh

I purchased an iMac G5 two  years ago.  Entirely new technology, a beautiful machine for a tidy sum of $2,000 or so.  Apple announced that soon after my machine was released, that there were problems with the power supplies on this machine.  I started to have problems earlier this year and held out until this [...]

Happy birthday to me

In: About Spencer

So as a birthday gift, today I got to fly to Memphis to see a client.  I’m actually excited about the client, but travelling on your birthday kind of sucks.
Best travel story: the family that holds up the line asking if they can bring in sippy cups for their children.  What rock were these people [...]

Yard Sales

In: About Spencer

We’re having a yard sale today.  A lot of sitting watching people examine our crap and shake their head.  A yard sale is like dating, see a lot of people, get a lot of rejection.

Changing email addresses stinks

In: About Spencer, Blogging

Does anything suck more than changing email addresses?  I’ve had a .Mac email address for years - it comes along with a bunch of features, but costs about $70 per year.  I never killed it because I didn’t want to change addresses, but finally I decided to cave.  I’ll replace my email address with a [...]

New Mexican wedding adventures - part 2

In: About Spencer

Oh yeah, there’s more.
Saturday
Beautiful day (or so we thought). We get up, but Nick and I have nothing to do. Kristen, being in the wedding, has a full day ahead. We pick up beer and ice, help out with ushering duties, and sit for the wedding. We could see the storm [...]

New Mexican wedding adventures - part 1

In: About Spencer

This past weekend we went to Albuquerque, New Mexico for a wedding. Because it wasn’t cheap to fly there (and we’re saving for a wedding) we went with the least expensive flight out that fit our schedule and wasn’t too much of a hassle; this turned out to be American Airlines. Here’s my tail [...]

Out of the frying pan…

In: About Spencer

So I’m jumping on a plane tomorrow. Time to escape the freaking heat. Only one problem - when I get off the plan, I’ll be in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Nice. :-|
So to all of my readers - you’ll have to live without me until next Monday.
(that is the sound of gasps all [...]

About this blog

Ostensibly A Rubber Door is about anything that's on my mind. Mostly that seems to be about politics, music, sports, and arguing with others about all of the above. I took the name of this blog from a Michael Penn song called Me Around. Check out Michael - he's about the best singer/songwriter there is.
