I agree with you guys - I really think this kind of helps get her out of the "Disney" prepubescent crowd, and into a more adult crowd. I just think it overly sexualizes a 15 year-old.

The pictures aren't all that much, just the fact that she's so young. And yes, the pictures with her father are even more creepy.

Yeah, this whole thing does bear the stench of preorchestrated "controversy/publicity".

Frankly, I don't find the pictures of her supposedly
topless all that scandalous...I mean, she's wearing
a towel or sheet around her fer chrissakes...all you
really see is some of her back...you can see far more
than that at the beach these days(hello camel toe!).

It's the weird poses with her dad that I find disturbing;
they kind of creep me out.

Personally, I think this was all amazingly orchestrated and calculated. The whole fakey "oh, goodness what have we done"/measured shame/disdain crap... it's amazing publicity to keep the Miley/Hannah machine moving forward at full steam as she moves from tweener idol to the "not-quite-legal hottie" thing (which I find totally twisted.) I mean, she surely has a PR army, plus a cadre of lawyers and her parents pulling strings and watching what's happening. Miley is too young to be legally bound to contracts, so grown-ups had to make this happen. (Grown-ups who might want to take the welfare of a kid over greed now and then.)

Just as Disney turns a blind eye to the nearly nekkid young girl billboards advertising lingerie in China, their hands wrapped in Mickey Mouse puppets with the Disney logo prominently displayed, they feign outrage over a surely long-planned Annie Lebowitz photo shoot, but know this will keep the fires burning with that selling point of scandal for a long time to come. Of course, eventually, this all comes back to bite them all in the ass.

They turned Britney from schoolgirl to skank, and we all know how well that turned out...

I couldn't agree more. You're supposed to screw up at 15, that's part of being young. Luckily most of us don't have the world watching when we do...
