Overall not a horrible day for Obama. I continue to be amazed by the fact that people buy the Clinton campaign’s strategy. The only thing she’s selling is her experience over Obama. I guess based on this we should expect Barbara Bush to be running in 2012?

When I watched one of the debates and Hillary talked about her “35 years of experience”, I was dumbfounded. All I could think was, what?!? What the hell are you talking about? She wasn’t the governor. She wasn’t the president. And while I do not deny that having to smile through your husband’s infidelities, attend a zillion events, openings, and chair committees is hard work, it ain’t working 35 years as a legislator or governing executive.
Smoke and mirrors.

Hillary has a law degree, had a career before she met Bill, and maintained a very active political life while she was first lady. And at this point isn’t she in her second term as a senator from one of the most populated states? I think she has considerable experience. I’m just saying. It’s nothing to sneeze at.
I don’t like to hear an accomplished woman knocked and dismissed any more than I like to hear it happen to black man.

Hillary opened the door for the criticism by questioning Obama’s experience; therefore we have every right to call into question her experience. Mind you she specifically calls out her international political experience - not her legal experience. She is specifically questioning Obama’s ability to lead. They’re both lawyers, so she obviously doesn’t consider that “experience”.
She’s a two term senator - he’s a one-term senator (only two years). Prior to becoming a senator she was a First Lady and a lawyer - prior to becoming a Senator he was a 7 year state congressman and also a lawyer. It has nothing to do with her being a woman and I’m not belittling her pre-First Lady career - her argument that she is more experienced has all to do with her time inside the White House as the First Lady - and I think that is a flawed argument.

One more thing - the other issue I have with Hillary’s argument is that it seems to equate experience to qualification. Experience is simply part of the equation when considering whether or not someone is qualified, but there are others. Intelligence and foreign policy knowledge for instance. One could make the argument that our current President is was more experienced, having run the state of Texas, than any of the Democratic candidates. I would also say that the 3 remaining democratic candidates are more qualified to be President than he ever was.
Hillary’s claim seems to indicate that the simply a large number of years involved in government will lead to a quality leader. If that’s the case - we should all be voting for Dick Cheney for President.

It’s just simple campaign tactics: pick out your opponents weakness and pummel it to death. Obama has very little political experience on the national stage, so that’s what the Clinton campaign is picking on. The Obama campaign is picking on Hillary’s ‘insiderness.’ That’s how it’s going to go. Both have a legitimate argument, which means they both have legitimate weaknesses.

I don’t disagree. My point is simply that if you point out an opponent’s weakness, that means you open yourself to criticism on the same point.

My question is: When is someone going to pick on Huckabee for the fact that he believes the earth is 6000 years old?! WHEN?!?!

I mean, if I were a candidate up on the stage in the middle of a presidential debate, every single time they turned my mic on I would point at Huckabee and say “He thinks the earth is 6000 years old! Can you believe that? He wants the most important job available and he thinks the earth is 6000 years old! I. Will. Be. Damned!”

My 6-year old nephew knows the earth is many billions of years old.
Do you know Huckabee believes that dinosaurs and humans existed simultaneously? Like, ran into each other.

Hey, Sherri Shepherd of The View kept her job after admitting that she believes that the world is flat. Our country excels at encouraging and rewarding stupidity.
Huckabee also thinks that the confederate flag is awesome and anyone who wants to say different can stick a flagpole up their ass. The quote:
“South Carolina people know true conservatism when they see it. You don’t like people outside the state telling you how you ought to raise your kids. You don’t like people from outside the state telling you what to do with the [Confederate] flag. In fact, if somebody came down to Arkansas and told us what to do with our flag, we’d tell ‘em where to put the pole.” — GOP presidential candidate Mike Huckabee, who supports constitutional amendments that would ban abortion nationwide and prohibit any state from legalizing same-sex marriage even if the voters in that state wanted to do so.
The press isn’t covering that one, just the bitchy slapfight between Obama and HillBill. That’s like flaming conservative crazy Pat Buchanan-style talk there.

I think one of my biggest problems with Hillary is that she touted 35 years experience, but, again, it’s not as a legislator. Not as a lawmaker. I can get up and say I have “nearly 20 years experience” and not clarify what it is, but 20 years sounds pretty good.
Hillary has never been my candidate of choice, but, then again, I’d rather have her than someone who thinks the world is only 6,000 years old. (I do want Huckabee’s weight loss secrets, though.) No candidate is perfect. I would have prefered Bill Richardson, for his genuine international experience, but I have always loathed his “being gay is a choice” comment (which would come as a big surprise, I think, to all the gay peeps I know.)
At least Fred “Vigo the Destroyer” Thompson is no longer in the race.

I should clarify, fwiw, that, above, I meant one of my biggest problems with Hillary *in the debate I watched* was her reference to experience. Some stuff is much clearer inside my head. :)

I think that Shrillary greatly exaggerates her experience. She’s a second term senator. She’s no more qualified than Obama or Edwards and it annoys me to hear her infer otherwise. If anything her greatest asset is that she is by far the most Machiavellian person running.
The fact that she’s a Democrat and that her husband was an effective and popular president doesn’t hide what she really is - another rich, white, old guy. Hillary is a politician and to nominate her is to nominate more of the same in Washington. Two families in the White House since 1980 is too damn long. It’s time for change.
Huckabee is a FREAK and he’s a faux Republican. As a business owner I can respect people who vote Republican for economic reasons, but Huckabee isn’t fiscally conservative. Hell, Bill was far more fiscally conservative than Huckabee at least according to his campaign rhetoric. Huckabee is the worst kind of Republican, the kind who only push conservative social agendas. Anyone who’s not an evangelical and votes for him needs to have their head checked. Also, why doesn’t somebody ask Huckabee how Jesus would feel about the Rebel Flag flying over a state capital? I’m sure Christ would’ve been a huge sympathizer to the Confederate cause.
This is supposed to be the greatest country on earth, we deserve better and we can do better. There’s still a chance that the PA primary will matter, if it does, vote for change.
