Last week St. Louis Cardinals pitcher Josh Hancock was killed in an accident where he was two times the legal limit, talking on the phone, and had marijuana in the car. Two days before the accident, Hancock was involved in another accident at 5:30 in the morning, overslept and missed the beginning of a game, and was talked to by Cardinals coach Tony LaRussa; maybe that’s why the talking to didn’t work. You see, earlier this spring, Tony LaRussa was found on the side of the road, asleep at the wheel, and blew a .093 on a breathalyser test.
You have to think that Hancock sat there listening to LaRussa thinking, “are you kidding me? Pot. Kettle. Black.” It’s a shame. Obviously there was an issue, but with a team that was formerly owned by Anheuser Busch, playing in a gstadium named after the beer producer, and a manager who himself has been found wanting, it doesn’t seem that the right people where available to make the necessary intervention.

I took the name of this blog from a Michael Penn song called Me Around. Check out Michael - he's about the best singer/songwriter there is.

What a freaking mess. “Do as I say, not as I— oh forget it, somebody get me a beer…” :(
