So it looks like this Dixie Chick thing I wrote about has people talking. Here’s an interesting video Jan sent me about a documentary on this whole subject:
Sphere: Related ContentOstensibly A Rubber Door is about anything that's on my mind. Mostly that seems to be about politics, music, sports, and arguing with others about all of the above. I took the name of this blog from a Michael Penn song called Me Around. Check out Michael - he's about the best singer/songwriter there is.

I think the thing that distressed me most in that clip was the man in the truck saying they should be shot, while his wife, behind the wheel, laughed. Very, very creepy.
When I went to see “Fahrenheit 9/11″ with a friend, there were only a few other people in the audience. One was a couple - middle-aged, fairly affluent-looking. As an Iraqi grandmother cried inconsolably on screen, this man cheered and whooped and yelled, “Kill ‘em all! Whoooo!” This had gone on throughout the film whenever people were shown dying. He even cheered when an American soldier was shown missing a leg - he yelled, “YEAH! Did it for your country, son!”
What the hell is really wrong and deeply sick at the heart of our country? I cannot fathom it. Makes me so angry I lose my words.
