I Hate My WB – Worst Commercial EVER!

I just had to watch the Phillies throw away a sure win by leaving the bases loaded in the 7th and 8th inning and then friggin’ Arthur Rhodes giving up a game winning home run in the 9th.

To add insult to injury, they then run the worst commercial ever to close out the game. They run this awful WB Mason commercial about 3 times again.

Looks like WB Mason was so embarrased by this shite of a commercial, they had YouTube pull it. I’m wondering if we can have them do the same with the actual commercial.

  1. The thing is, the first ten times or so I saw it I only half-watched and I thought it was a going-away montage of the WB network or something.

  2. Oh, hell yeah. I didn’t think they could get any more annoying than their old overused “private investigator” spots they used to run, but hey, they sure did.

I hate to dis any musicians, but it’s really ill-conceived melodic and harmonic writing for a jingle as well. Just an extra little annoyance.

Luckily, I think they sank their entire ad budget into the Phils sponsorship, so we never see these anywhere else. So it’s just we-the-dwindling-number-of-Phils-gluttons-for-punishment, um, I mean Phillies fans, who are continually subjected to it!

  3. 8 or 9 times? You’ve only watched 1 game this year I guess. But you’re right – it’s insidious how that song gets in your head.

  4. Yeah, I was going to admit… after I criticized the composer, I also still found the damn song unwillingly stuck in my head for the next few hours, even including the name of the product. So since that’s the main purpose of a jingle, I guess they did a great job.

  5. Philadelphia isn’t the only lucky city to see this gem — they run it during the Red Sox games up here in Boston, PLUS there’s a radio spot too. I just did a google search for the ad and this site came up — I wanted to show it to a co-worker that has only heard about it.

  6. I’m figuring in Boston there are more advertisers wanting to promote during Sox games. During the Phillies games I kid you not, there are no more than 4 or 5 not including the Phillies. Add to that that WB Mason has only this one spot running and it’s the perfect storm – once every other inning.

And they do run it on radio here too.
