So Shawn Colvin has a new cd coming soon. One of the best singer/songwriters around, it’s been over 5 years since we’ve had a cd full on new music from Shawn.

    I used to love Shawn, until a WXPN Singer-Songwriter weekend…gosh…probably 10 years ago? She was doing the meet and greet thing for members and was obviously cranky. Plus, she had her hair in cornrows, which wasn’t a good look for her and made her appear even harsher.

    On the other hand, that same day (if memory serves me correctly) we met Sam Phillips and Pete Droge and both were so kind and accomodating and non-cranky. Which made Shawn look even worse.

    It’s funny how something like that can turn you off a performer, although logically it has nothing to do with their music.

    Still, Shawn has one hell of a voice – beautiful, clear and strong – and is a terrific performer.

    Who knows – you should give her another chance – she’s always seemed to be so nice and friendly while on stage.

    Plus think of it this way – imagine if someone made a forever judgement about you on the one day you happen to be cranky. You could be nice as pie 364 days of the year, but that one day…

    Just saying – I still love, love, LOVE her.
