I just saw that the USA is down 0-2 against Belgium in the Federation Cup (tennis).  While the rest of the world hates us, they can take joy in the performance of the collective Teams USA over the past few years:

  • World Cup - USA gets spanked and kicked of the World Cup by Ghana.  The USA was ranked 5th in the by FIFA - Ghana was not.
  • The World Baseball Classic - this is our sport and we didn’t make it out of the secound round
  • Olympic Hockey - while acting like prima donnas a team stocked with NHL stars finishes 1-4-1
  • Team USA Basketball - Another game we invented, we barely win a bronze with another team stocked with professionals

I think what we’re seeing is that in America, we can’t play sports at the highest levels unless we’re receiving a paycheck.
