To date 105 people have died worldwide of the Avian Flu - over 29 million have died just in Sub-Saharan Africa of AIDS.
Priorities.
Ostensibly A Rubber Door is about anything that's on my mind. Mostly that seems to be about politics, music, sports, and arguing with others about all of the above. I took the name of this blog from a Michael Penn song called Me Around. Check out Michael - he's about the best singer/songwriter there is.

Backwards. Like they’ve always been. Avian flu is the new ‘hip’ disease. HIV & AIDS is so 1989.
Besides, you get the flu from playing with dirty birds and you get HIV with playing with dirty Birds and/or sharing their needles and/or etc.
I know this has been said dozens of times, but if people would just take the time to educate themselves, there would be far less fear in the world.

It troubles me greatly that AIDS continues to grow at an exponential rate, particularly in Africa. There are so many challenges to be overcome - cultural, sexual, basic necessity - to help stem the tide. Sometimes it seems overwhelming. Yet, we barely hear a peep about it now because, like Howard wrote, “avian flu is the new ‘hip’ disease.”
It’s part and parcel of the media hype machine and the short attention span of most news viewers. Ugh.
